With the summer window approaching, it seems Aston Villa are already identifying their targets in the market.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Unai Emery’s side were one of those who had scouts at the Champions League clash between Porto and Inter Milan last night.
The outlet does not make clear if Aston Villa had a specific player to keep an eye on, or if that was just a general scouting job to see several footballers in action.
Last summer, the Premier League side had been linked to Porto star Otávio, but he was suspended for this match, so it was well known he wouldn’t be featuring there.
Now if Aston Villa were open to be impressed by new targets last night, they may have taken positive notes from a few Porto players.
Centre-backs Fábio Cardoso and Ivan Marcano did a great job stopping Inter Milan’s attack, while midfielder Marko Grujic dictated the midfield’s tempo and was very praised by the local media.
If Unai Emery and his staff were impressed by any of those last night, the Portuguese media should soon come up with more information about it.
