Perhaps inspired by Aaron Hickey, Lewis Ferguson decided to head to Italy to continue his career, leaving his native Scotland behind.
It’s served him well, as he has now caught the eye of a few clubs, including Everton and Leicester if reports in England are to be believed.
He’s very happy in Italy, where he is a key player at Bologna, who are currently flying high in Serie A, sitting eighth after 24 games, four points ahead of ninth placed Torino.
As mentioned above, Everton and Leicester are said to be keen on the midfielder, who could very easily leave in the summer if the right offer comes along.
His agent, Bill McMurdo, speaking to Sport Italia, explained his client’s current situation at Bologna, and alluded to the fact the Italian side aren’t his final stop, with Champions League football his ultimate dream.
As to how much someone like Everton or Leicester would need to pay, he said: “I think a price tag of €9-10m is a fair figure at the moment. He’s extremely happy in Bologna and loves life in Italy. Lewis has a deep belief that he can play in the best leagues in Europe.”
That’s a very affordable fee for the likes of the Toffees or the Foxes, but it’s clear that they would have to be in the Premier League to stand a chance of getting.
While that not be such a big issue for Leicester, it might be for Everton if Sean Dyche doesn’t get matters turned around quickly at Goodison Park.
