Following the injury sustained by Dean Henderson at Nottingham Forest, Steve Cooper and his staff set about finding a replacement.
They eventually settled on Keylor Navas, who joined them on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, but he wasn’t the only player they looked at.
Among the alternatives was Uğurcan Çakır, currently at Trabzonspor, for whom Nottingham Forest bid €9m, only to have that turned down.
This comes courtesy of Fanatik in Turkey, who write an article about the goalkeeper’s future, and explain the Süper Lig side ‘plan to sell’ their shot stopper in the summer.
The amount wasn’t enough, and he was ‘retained in the team’, but will now ‘very likely be sold at the end of the season’.
In fact, they have already set their sights on his replacement, with that being Gunay Guvenc, currently at Kasımpaşa.
That’s good news for Nottingham Forest if they are still looking for a long-term Henderson replacement, as their current injured number one is set to return to Manchester United at the end of the season, while Navas, as good as he is, is 36 years old and is only there temporarily.
