Manchester City star Bernardo Silva had a word with the Portuguese media following Sunday’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
Besides speaking about the game, Eleven Sports also had some time to ask the player about the transfer of Enzo Fernandez, who left Benfica for Chelsea on the final day of the January window.
They first asked Bernardo if he’s happy that the Argentine midfielder has moved to the Premier League, but also mentioning that since Silva is an Eagles’ fan, he could be annoyed by the transfer.
“It’s a normal situation in the world of football. From what I understand, Benfica tried to keep the player and they didn’t succeed and therefore they follow different paths. Benfica continue, Enzo continues and I wish him the best,” Bernardo Silva told Eleven Sports (via O Jogo).
Enzo Fernandez had joined Benfica in a €12m deal from River Plate at the start of the season, and only spent six months at the club before being sold to Chelsea for €121m on January’s transfer deadline day.
It turns out that despite his short time at the club, he still played a lot more than Bernardo Silva there. The Manchester City player spent years at the Eagles’ academy, and when promoted had only three matches for the first team before being sold. Still, that didn’t hurt his feelings for the club, who he publicly supports.
