Leeds United were linked with Nicolo Zaniolo earlier in the transfer window, before Bournemouth moved into the picture for the AS Roma player.
Zaniolo didn’t fancy a move to the south coast team, partly given the relegation danger they are facing. Leeds are doing a little better, and given their owner, Andrea Radrizzani, has many contacts within the Italian market, an approach wasn’t a surprise.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports they’ve now returned, but only with a loan offer.
Over the weekend, he had Roma fans threatening him outside his house, and those threats were taken seriously.
The Whites are said to have made a loan offer, but Roma want something similar to what Bournemouth proposed. That, according to the Di Marzio report, was €27.5m and 10% of a future sale.
Zaniolo can play in a variety of positions, and not so long ago was considered one of the biggest talents in Italian football. The relationship breakdown isn’t all his fault and if Leeds are serious then an extra effort on deadline day could see a deal done.
