As Chelsea continue to be named as one of the main contenders to take Rafael Leão away from Milan, there are people in the Italian media advising him against that move.
This is the case of Sky Sport commentator Maurizio Compagnoni, who, today, warned the player that he may not have an easy challenge at the Stamford Bridge.
The pundit now claimed that Leão should be worried about the competition he’ll find at Chelsea, claiming he has more of a safe place in Milan’s squad.
“It is necessary for Leão to stay at Milan. He is still a diamond in the rough. There is the risk that he will go to Chelsea, miss the first two games and find himself on the bench,” said Compagnoni (via Milan News).
“For Leão, staying at Milan is definitely the best choice: going to Chelsea it’s almost a leap in the dark.”
Chelsea’s interest in sign Leão may be strong, with the player feeling attracted by that move, but there’s still a big detail left for that operation to be possible, which is the agreement with Milan.
Recent reports from the Italian media claimed that the Portuguese star is unlikely to cost less than €80m, which sounds like a quite big fee for a January move, even for one of the Premier League’s richest clubs.
So as Leão must still be convinced of making the switch, that’s only one of the issues Chelsea need to worry about.
