Back in October, Brighton & Hove Albion started being linked to Brazilian midfielder Maycon.
The 25-year-old belongs to Shakhtar Donetsk, but is actually having a loan spell at Corinthians, in a deal which expires this month.
Corinthians are very interested in keeping him in their squad, and that’s why the local media often brings updates on his situation.
Journalist Jorge Nicola today claims that Maycon doesn’t want to return to Shakhtar Donetsk, and already told the Ukranian side about that.
To sell him, they made a request of €7m, but that’s too much for Corinthians, who want either a discount or a new loan for another year.
“Brighton, for example, would need to stop having interest in the midfielder,” Nicola says.
For now, it’s still unclear whether the Seagulls are placing a bid for the player, although they’d have more money than Corinthians to fight for the signing.
Maycon worked with Roberto De Zerbi at Shakhtar, and that’s why the manager is said to be interested to bring him to Brighton now.
