Leeds United are fans of Sampdoria midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri following his performances for Morocco at the World Cup.
That’s according to Samp News 24, who say the player’s future is yet to be written as an ‘auction is looming’ for him.
They say that Sampdoria’s complex financial situation could make it easy for them to sell the midfielder in January.
That’s also aided by his participation in the World Cup, which is ‘increasing his value’ and earning him plenty of admirers.
That would represent a large capital gain for the Italian side, who only paid €1m for him a year ago, and that was split over three years.
Fiorentina are currently in pole position in the race and have already ‘sketched out’ a proposal worth €5m plus a player.
That could see an auction for his signature be ‘triggered’ as two Spanish clubs, and three Premier League clubs, Leeds one of those who ‘like him very much’, and Lyon are following him.
At the moment they have only made enquiries but ‘steps forward’ that would make things difficult for Fiorentina have not been ruled out.
