Having moved to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, Ivan Perisic still misses Italian football.
This has been said by the player himself in an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport, who spoke to him in Qatar during the World Cup.
Asked for a message to Italy, the Tottenham player talked about his love for the country and for his former club Inter Milan.
“I miss it a bit, Inter and Italy will always be my home. All in all, Milan and your country are the places I’ve stayed the longest in my life as a footballer,” Perisic told Gazzetta Dello Sport.
“Well, a little, but I’ll be back soon and I’ll have something important to do. The Champions League against Milan awaits me.”
Perisic played for Inter Milan between 2015 and 2022, split by a year-long loan spell in Bayern Munich. He left the Nerazzurri with 55 goals and 39 assists in 254 matches, as well as a Serie A title and a Coppa Italia.
At Tottenham, he met his former boss Antonio Conte. He’s still to find his first goal for Spurs, though, as he only has seven assists in 21 appearances for the club so far.
Currently focused on the World Cup with Croatia, he was starter in their two games, getting a 0-0 draw against Morocco and a 4-1 win over Canada. They still need a positive result against Belgium to guarantee their place in the knock-out stage.
