Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has been praised for his ‘sterling’ performance in PSV Eindhoven’s win over Arsenal.
The Dutch side ran out 2-0 winners over Mikel Arteta’s side in the Europa League last night, courtesy of goals from Joey Veerman and Luke de Jong.
Branthwaite was handed a start in the centre of defence in the game, his first in the Europa League this season since arriving on loan from Everton in the summer.
He put in an impressive display throughout the game and one of those who were keen to praise him were Voetbal Primeur.
They label his display as ‘sterling’, explaining that he replaced teammate Armando Obispo ‘with verve’ and ‘made many recoveries’ throughout the game.
There was also the key moment in which he prevented Arsenal making the scoreline 2-1 15 minutes before the end of the game; a great intervention that essentially secured the win.
All in all, a good evening for the young defender, who impressed those watching in the Netherlands and might have just earned himself more playing time going forwards.
