Brighton and Hove Albion striker Deniz Undav has insisted he is happy with life at the club, despite a lack of playing time thus far.

The 26-year-old striker joined Brighton from Union SG in the summer after the two clubs came to an agreement for a deal back in January.

It had been expected he would slot straight into the first team given Brighton’s lack of a regular goalscorer up front, particularly after Neal Maupay joined Everton in the summer transfer window.

That’s not proven to be the case, with Undav managing just six appearances and 54 minutes of action for Brighton in the Premier League thus far.

He’s yet to start a game and has featured in just 6% of the available minutes, a far cry from the situation he would have anticipated before making the move.

It seems he’s not unhappy with the situation, though, and insists he had planned for a tough adjustment period.

“My main goal is to put something down here,” he told Het Nieuwsblad.

“I knew beforehand that that would take time. Not playing for five, six months? No problem.

“I imagined beforehand that the adjustment would be tough. Well, it was even tougher. Physically, in terms of intensity.

“But Graham Potter told me I exceeded his expectations and that sooner or later I would get my chance.”
