AC Milan have ‘started the first contacts’ with Tottenham over a deal for defender Japhet Tanganga this summer.
That’s according to Sky Sports Italy, who say the Tottenham youngster fits the profile that the Italian side are now looking at.
They explain that after the failure to sign Sven Botman, who moved to Newcastle, the Rossoneri have decided to change strategy and focus on a young profile for their backline.
They have drawn up a list of option, but ‘among the first places’ on that list is the name of Tanganga.
That’s seen as a sign that they are willing to get ‘more and more serious’ to try and add the defender to Stefano Pioli’s squad in the coming weeks.
Now there’s no mention of the type of deal that Milan are looking at here, but recent claims have said it would be a loan with a right to buy. That makes more sense than a permanent transfer, given Milan’s finances are tightly controlled.
Either way, talks with the player and Tottenham are said to be underway, so this deal could pick up pace quickly over the next few weeks.
