Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is yet to return to management since Manchester United parted ways with him last November.

The Norwegian has not found a new club, but that doesn’t mean he is not in demand.

According to Foot Mercato, Iran considered the former Manchester United striker for their national team job.

The Asian nation have parted ways with their manager, Dragan Skočić, who helped them qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by topping their group table.

Despite that, the 53-year-old was shown the exit door and Iran are now looking for his successor.

This is where Solskjaer comes into the picture. It’s claimed the ex-United coach was the ‘priority’ target for the Iran football association as his profile is ‘very appreciated’ in their country.

Unfortunately for Iran, Solskjaer has other priorities in the short-term and he will not succeed Skočić.

Meanwhile, Manchester United appointed Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager following the shown the exit door to the Norwegian.

The Red Devils struggled under the German and have brought in Erik ten Hag as their permanent manager.
