Turkish League leaders Medipol Başakşehir are chasing Chelsea’s Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu, report Fanatik. The newspaper claims Medipol Başakşehir have already started negotiations with Chelsea despite the player only joining Newcastle United in the last window.

Atsu is currently playing for Newcastle United, on loan from Chelsea, and Başakşehir are confident that they can lease him for the remainder of the season. Fanatik report Başakşehir’s loan offer includes a buy-out fee.

Medipol Başakşehir are currently sitting top of the Turkish League and are chasing the players who will help them in their title chase. It’s been claimed the talks to sign Atsu are at advanced stage.

The 25-year old has played just 653 league minutes for Newcastle United so far this season. Atsu joined Chelsea from FC Porto and since then the Ghana international has had various loan spells with other clubs. Atsu has played on loan at Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga in the space of two years before he joined Newcastle United.

However, since he arrived at St James in the summer he’s failed to convince Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez to make him a regular in his starting eleven.

It would have to be assumed Newcastle are aware of the situation, and Benitez may well feel he can let Atsu go. A permanent transfer could now be the right move for Atsu, it’s unlikely Antonio Conte sees a future for the player at Chelsea, and his contract there runs out in June 2018.

Newcastle United have an option to buy the player, so their agreement is very much needed before Chelsea do a deal with Medipol Başakşehir.
