Spanish clubs are currently in the process of agreeing, and disagreeing, over a financing package which is planned to help get financial houses back in order after the difficulties of recent years.
It’s been causing a great deal of infighting, because what is best for the clubs at the top isn’t always best for the clubs at the bottom, and the same is true in reverse.
Friday’s edition of AS basically tells them all to bang their heads together and concentrate on the real enemy… the Premier League.
Newcastle United are seen as an example of that, and there’s a fear the Magpies and Leeds United will soon join other big English clubs in being strong in European competition and subsequently attractive to players.
Back to Newcastle, and AS states: ‘They will not make a great team from one day to the next, but they will have enough money to make the market more expensive and take players that our teams want, or that are already in our squads.’
One example is Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, with it claimed the 22-year-old is ‘tempted by Newcastle’.
The former Benfica player has been linked with multiple English clubs this week, and if the Magpies strike up a transfer relationship with agent Jorge Mendes, the impossible could become possible in the coming months.
