Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been under immense pressure following Manchester United’s poor run this season.
The Norwegian was successful in guiding the Red Devils bounce back from a drubbing loss to Liverpool in October, by beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 in London.
Since then, however, United have settled for a draw against Atalanta in the Champions League and suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City in the derby last weekend.
United have only four points from their last six league matches, which is why pressure has not eased off from Solskjaer’s shoulders and Victor Lindelöf admitted there will be a lot of media attention on the English giants, when quizzed about the squad’s confidence on the coach.
Fotbollskanalen interviewed the Sweden international and United’s poor results this season was the first topic that was discussed.
United bolstered the squad in the summer, and when asked if he is surprised with the club’s results and performances, Lindelöf explained: “We have a very good team with good players, so it is clear that we are expected to do well. But sometimes that’s the way it is in football.”
“You have a worse period and we as a team have not performed at the level we want and then the results have not come either. Nobody is happy with it, but it is up to us to change it and everyone works hard to get better results.”
The centre-back also admitted United’s dynamics haven’t changed a lot since Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the club in the summer.
“It hasn’t changed much. Of course, we have brought in a world-class pillar that contributes a lot both on and off the field. I just think it’s been nice to have him there. He is a good person who helps a lot and tries to support the younger players,” the Swede said.
