Earlier this week, we wrote a piece about the return of rumours linking Edinson Cavani with a Boca Juniors move.
Following all the stories from the summer, the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United is now the latest reason why people believe the Uruguayan star could leave the Premier League side.
A good thing about South America is that when this kind of rumour comes out, there’ll often be a comment from someone at the club about it. This is the case once again this week.
Jorge Bermudez, a member of Boca Juniors’ football council, spoke to TyC Sports about several subjects. Since he’s also Uruguayan, he was asked about the club’s chances of landing his compatriot, and even sent him a message.
“There was a great dream at the time, but we deeply respect him,” said Bermudez (via Infobae.
“There is the Bombonera, people come and Boca is waiting for him. Hopefully one day Boca can can have that taste.”
The rumours about Cavani’s exit from Manchester United have gained attention even in Brazil, where journalist Jorge Nicola featured a video about the chances of Brazilian clubs signing the striker.
That possibility, however, is considered to be very low because of the big wages the player receives at Old Trafford.
