Sunderland are close to completing a move for Leon Dajaku, according to reports from Germany.
Union Berlin have been working to send the Germany U19 international out on loan for weeks now.
That’s according to Kicker, who say the forward had to spend a brief spell on the sidelines after undergoing an appendix operation, and this made any potential deal difficult.
Those concerns have been ruled out after the Black Cats came forward to sign him and the report says his move to the Stadium of Light is ‘about to be concluded’. Dajaku will join Sunderland on a loan deal.
Union Berlin took the 20-year-old on a temporary deal from Bayern Munich in January and there was uncertainty around his contract situation.
Kicker say the forward belongs to Union Berlin, who exercised the purchase obligation included in the the deal they had with the Bundesliga winners.

Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg took to Twitter to explain Union Berlin have made Dajaku’s stay permanent and he’s signed a contract with them until 2024. He further adds the player will join Sunderland on loan.
The announcement will be made in the ‘next hours’.
