Bought from Valencia back in 2018, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rafa Mir has been sent on three loans since to try and get game time under his belt.
First sent to UD Las Palmas, the Spanish forward then went to Nottingham Forest for the 2019-20 season before heading to SD Huesca in the last campaign, where he really impressed.
Scoring 13 goals in 38 league appearances for the La Liga side, the towering forward is now expected to head back to Molineux, where new boss Bruno Lage will have to decide whether he wants to play him in the Premier League or not.
His contract with Wolves expires next year, meaning any move that isn’t permanent would need his contract extended first, but Mir, who spoke to Onda Cero in Spain, has a particular destination in mind.
That is RCD Mallorca, a team his family know well, since his father, Magín Mir Martínez, spent two years with the club between 1989 and 1991.
Currently on holiday on the island, Mir was asked if he would be open to a move to the Spanish side should he be allowed to leave Wolves, he said: “We have a good relationship with Mallorca. I have love for the land. There are a lot of things that need to be in line for me to come here. We’ll see what happens, but the truth is I’d like to [play for Mallorca] a lot. That’s not new”.
Despite all this, the forward did admit he didn’t know what his future held, and he had one year left with Wolves, a club he has ‘a lot of respect for’.
He’s aware his next move doesn’t entirely depend on him, and he’ll first need Mallorca to be interested in him if he is to get the move he clearly wants.
