Earlier on Wednesday, we covered a story from Italy stating Tottenham were ‘crazy’ about Antonio Conte.
Corriere dello Sport made it clear Spurs want the Inter manager to replace José Mourinho at the Premier League side, with the San Siro side potentially on the verge of a ‘divorce’ with their most recent title winning hero.
That’s because the club want to downsize and reduce costs, which Conte isn’t best pleased about, and thus the story of a move to Tottenham was created.
It wasn’t said whether he would be interested, but La Stampa give us their spin on things, and they have far more details.
Almost immediately, they explain Spurs have made a ‘pharaonic offer’ to the manager in order to convince him to join, and they are ‘behind the possible divorce’ between Conte and Inter.
In fact, they state the wages offered by Daniel Levy are ‘well over the €13m currently received’, and the figure ‘would be over €15m, closer to €20m’.
Compared to that, ‘the prospects offered by Inter to Conte’ aren’t quite of that nature, and Tottenham, thanks to their ‘offer of recruitment and possibility of improving the latest results’, represent ‘the most attractive offer for Conte’, who was also approached by Real Madrid.
The near €20m salary ‘is a very convincing argument’, and should the divorce go through with Inter, the Serie A side ‘should call Simone Inzaghi’, who has also been linked with a move to the Premier League side.
These are very bold claims, but, then again, bringing Conte in would almost immediately guarantee better results, as shown from his previous spell in England with Chelsea and his impressive turnaround in Italy with his current club, so it’s no surprise if Levy goes all in for the Italian.
