In the midst of the controversies surrounding the European Super League, Tottenham Hotspur decided to part ways José Mourinho.
Earlier this week, Spurs confirmed the Portuguese tactician and his coaching staff were relieved from their duties and Ryan Mason was appointed as interim manager until the end of this season.
The north London club’s search for Mourinho’s successor has started and they have reportedly contacted former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri for the managerial job.
Two days ago, it was reported Marcelino is on the long list of candidates handled by Spurs.
He was appointed as Athletic Club Bilbao’s manager at the start of this year and with that, he returned to management for the first time since he was sacked by Valencia in 2019.
The 55-year-old was asked about the recent reports linking him to the Tottenham managerial job.
“I have nothing to say about Tottenham, I am happy here and with the welcome we have had from the fans and everyone around us. Now we must continue working with the utmost humility possible. This is my thought and idea, it is what I am focused on,” Marcelino said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
