Milan are looking for a last-minute cheap deal to bolster their left-back position, and with few avenues available to them on the market, they’ve turned their head towards an unexpected man.

That player is Achraf Lazaar, a long-forgotten defender contracted to Newcastle United, whose deal at St James’ Park expires in the summer.

He knows Italy well, having spent most of his youth career in the country with Varese and Palermo, thus wouldn’t need a lot of time to adapt, and he would be cheap should he be able to free himself from his ties in the north of England.

That’s what Milan News 24 are reporting on Friday, explaining Milan want a new left-back before the window’s end, and while they have Palmeiras’ Viña in their list on a loan with a view to buy, the Brazilian side are putting up some resistance.

This is where the Newcastle man comes in, with the Morocco international having ‘asked the club for a contract cancellation’ and is ‘currently awaiting their response’.

Milan are ‘waiting for news’ and the ‘countdown has begun’.
