Journalist claims player’s move to Stoke City in ‘final phase’ – Has ‘flown’ to England

Stoke City are interested in Schalke’s Rabbi Matondo, according to reports coming out of Germany.

According to Bild, ‘money’ is the ‘problem’ for Schalke to make new signings in the winter market due to their financial issues.

Therefore, Schalke are ready to allow some of their players go out on loan and the 20-year-old is one among them.

According to the report, the winger’s temporary transfer could help his side generate a ‘low single-digit million’ income, which they can invest in signing a striker.

Gaffrey claims the attacker’s loan move to Stoke is in the ‘final phase’, and on Sunday he is said to have ‘flown from Düsseldorf to Manchester’ to complete his move to the Championship side. Matondo is expected to join the Potters on loan until the end of the season.

Sky Deutschland reporter Dirk Schlarmann has backed Gaffrey’s claims, stating the player is set to move to Stoke City.

Matondo was not in Schalke’s squad for their defeat to Hertha Berlin on Saturday and Schlarmann adds he was also absent from training on Sunday.
