Claim player could be in for ‘sensational return’ to Tottenham in deal involving Spurs duo

Tottenham Hotspur’s effort to retain Christian Eriksen was unsuccessful as he ended up leaving the north London club for Inter Milan in January.

The 28-year-old has struggled to adapt to Antonio Conte’s tactics at Inter and has only one Serie A goal in 22 appearances. He is yet to score or register an assist this campaign.

According to Calciomercato.it, the playmaker has ‘not yet found the feeling’ with the former Chelsea manager’s methods at the Italian club.

The Denmark international is a regular topic of discussion during Conte’s press conferences and the Nerazzurri manager has always answered quite bluntly.

As per the report, ‘something could happen’ with regards to Eriksen in the winter market as Paris Saint-Germain and the Premier League clubs could decide to take a shot at signing him.

His best football came at Spurs, who were looking at a swap deal with Inter for Milan Škriniar. The deal didn’t go through. It’s claimed that since then, discussions between two clubs have ‘opened’, and ‘who knows whether Eriksen himself can return’ to the discussion table.

Due to football finances being impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, clubs may be in favour of exchange operations over spending money on new signings.

The English side have to resolve situations related to some of their players, like Dele Alli and Danny Rose, who have not been regulars under José Mourinho this season. The duo could be included in a possible January operation involving Eriksen.

The feeling from this report is of what could happen between the two clubs rather than there being a genuine interest from Inter and Tottenham to work on an exchange operation involving Eriksen, Alli and Rose.
