Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny is ‘not an issue’ for HSV Hamburg, despite reports in England saying otherwise.
The Egyptian midfielder is thought to be on a list of players that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is willing to sell to raise funds for purchases elsewhere.
That saw him linked with a move to Germany by the English press this week, with claims that the 28-year-old is already in talks with HSV about a move.
Those same reports said both Sampdoria and Genoa were also interested, suggesting the Gunners may have multiple options if they wish to sell.
They say they have contacted those in charge of Volkspark about the rumour and been told that the midfielder ‘is not an issue’ for the club and ‘there are no discussions’ over a move.
It’s explained that the 2.Bundesliga side already have all the defensive midfielders they need and even if they did want a player in that position, he would be out of their reach financially at around €5m.
Of course, situations can always change, and perhaps that will be the case here, but it seems, for the time being, Elneny to Hamburg is a move that won’t be happening.
