Carlos Sanchez got relegated last season with Aston Villa, and was then handed the chance to join Serie A’s Fiorentina. It was falling on his feet of the highest regard.
The Colombian’s international career did far more to impress Fiorentina than what the defensive player had achieved with Aston Villa, and he probably couldn’t believe his luck.
Escaping from the Championship to go and live in Florence, or the surrounding Tuscany area, and don the viola shirt. Not only that, Fiorentina had qualified for the Europa League, so there was the added bonus of European football waiting after his Aston Villa exit.
The 30 year old hasn’t started every game for Fiorentina, but it’s fair to say he’s been a regular. Speaking after the club’s 3-0 win over Liberec last night, Sanchez is quoted by Viola24 as saying: “The Viola have opened the doors, and I’m very happy to be here: I’m 30 but I still feel a little kid.”
Fiorentina have the option to purchase Sanchez from Aston Villa permanently, if that doesn’t happen he’s got a contract at Villa until June 2018.
