With less than one month left for Marcos Rojo to return to Manchester United, the quest for the defender has been a hot topic in Argentina lately.
Estudiantes are said to be very interested in extending his loan deal, and their little hopes are reported by a few local outlets today.
El Dia says the player wants to stay in La Plata, especially because he’s soon becoming a father. The problem is that Manchester United are demanding US$12m (£9.5m) for the transfer.
Outlet El Eco comes up with even more details, claiming that Rojo has asked his agent to convince Manchester United to let him stay at Estudiantes for a little longer.
They claim that the Red Devils want to sell the player and recover part of the money they invested in him. It’s also said the club demand US$12m for the sale.
This amount is said to be impossible both for Estudiantes and for Boca Juniors, who are also said to be interested in the signing.
Rojo was only able to make one appearance in his loan spell for de La Plata side, and this is another argument they should use as they try to extend the loan deal.
