Rangers took Ianis Hagi on a short-term loan deal from Genk in the winter transfer market.
The attacking midfielder has impressed with his performances for the Glasgow club and that was sufficient for him to receive attention from elsewhere, with Lazio believed to be interested in acquiring his services.
Lazio have been facing a problem because Steve Gerrard’s side have an option of making the Romania international’s loan deal permanent.
Two days ago, Het Belang van Limburg explained the Scottish side will have to pay €5m to Genk for the 21-year-old and May 31st is the deadline to exercise the purchase option.
Another Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws has a report on the playmaker, with a headline that reads ‘Hagi on his way to Rangers’.
Within the report, it’s claimed the former Fiorentina man is ‘definitively taken over by Rangers’ as they have decided to convert his temporary stay at Ibrox into a permanent transfer.
The final details are currently being worked out and once the deal goes through, the Jupiler Pro League side will be €5m richer, a boost for them even before the transfer window opens.
HLN’s report only focuses on the transfer and there’s no mention of the duration of the contract offered by Rangers to Hagi.
