Watford’s hopes of signing Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul have been dashed, with such a deal described as ‘impossible’.
That’s according to Tutto Udinese, who insist the midfielder will not be part of any Pozzo special transfer to Vicarage Road.
The website explains that Watford fans have been dreaming of signing the Argentine, with it expected that the Hornets will look to strengthen heavily in the summer.
De Paul is one they have identified as a possible recruit, mainly as his current club is owned by the Pozzo family, who also own Watford.
Tutto Udinese, however, pour cold water on that idea, saying that such a move is ‘impossible’.
While De Paul is open to trying a new experience elsewhere, he won’t be joining the Hornets.
Any ‘internal transfer’ between the clubs is ‘inconceivable’ and should he leave; it will ‘absolutely’ not be to one of their other clubs.
Such a move ‘would trigger a revolt’ at the Italian club, according to the website, who are keen to put out this rumour before it can even get close to catching alight.
