The Portuguese press have now a list of the three big sharks who want Gelson Martins from Sporting.
Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all said to be interested in the signing, and despite all the fresh reports from the Catalan papers, it’s the English club who A Bola have more details about today.
They explain Manchester United’s scouting process and say that Gelson Martins is very close to becoming a real possibility for the Red Devils.
According to A Bola, after selecting the scouting targets for the season, the department watch the player five times. Martins has gone past this stage already.
Then the club scout the player on five other occasions, this time in different conditions, such as away games or international competitions.
There are five further scouting trips after that, totalling 15 reports. The player needs to have a maximum performance in ten of these so he’ll be approved as a club target, with José Mourinho having the final word.
But it doesn’t matter much to Sporting, as they have no intention of negotiating and the 21-year-old will only leave for his release clause, which is of course €60m.
