Over the past two months, we’ve carried various reports from Italy and Spain that Napoli’s Fabián Ruiz has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester City.
On December 27th, AS explained the Premier League winners knocked on the door for his transfer, but Real Madrid are believed to be ahead in the race to sign the midfielder.
Italian journalist Ciro Venerato has now told Rai’s program La Domenica Sportiva (relayed by CalcioNapoli24) that Manchester United have joined the race for the 23-year-old.
Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has been wanting to tie down the Spain international to a new deal so that he can include a high release clause in the contract.
Venerato mentioned the Red Devils when he gave an update about the player’s contract situation. He states Fabián is ‘taking time for renewal’.
With Real Madrid and Barca always chasing the player, United are now added to the list of suitors for Fabián, who is valued at €80-90m. Venerato adds there will be an auction after this season and Napoli are ‘going to bid farewell’.
