Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espírito Santo has once again spoken to ESPN Brasil, this time after the match against Manchester United.

The Portuguese boss couldn’t hide how proud he was of his team’s performance after the 1-1 draw, especially for the second half, when Wolves found a the equaliser.

“There are only two halves in the game (smiles). The first part and the second part. It’s impossible to play football with this intensity the whole game. Manchester United were very strong in the first half. For the way they positioned themselves, the intensity of their actions greatly conditioned our game”, Nuno Espírito Santo told ESPN Brasil’s Natali Gedra.

“And then the thing turned. Because we in the second half were more intense, more organized, more smug, and we had control of the game.”

With Wolves being a hard team to beat when playing against the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal last season, he was asked if they will keep being tough opponents for the top six this year. But he says such thing does not exist.

“Against all teams, there is no easy game, no hard game. There is the game to be played. The question is what you put into the game, regardless of your opponent. Then complexity comes with your opponent. Often you try and fail because the opponent is stronger. But there is no top six. There is always a game to be played. We compete equally against all opponents.”

Regarding the job of repeating a good Premier League campaign along with the Europa League games in their schedule, Espírito Santo says this will be the tough thing to do this season.

“The most difficult is to consolidate growth. Maintain and consolidate. That is our great goal. Be consistent in all games. In all competitions. We know it’s hard, but we face the challenge.”

Wolves now prepare for their first Europa League clash, as they face Torino in Italy on Thursday.
