Probably a bit bored in Togo, relaxing and all that, Emmanuel Adebayor appears ready to return to football after being released of his Crystal Palace contract over the summer.
The former Manchester City striker is apparently a target for quite a few clubs, including some in exotic destinations, but it’s a stay in Europe the player seems to be preferring.
We say this because over the past few days, strong rumours linking the player to Lyon in France have emerged since Alexandre Lacazette’s injury, and that’s where he might be heading.
While the French club’s vice-director told L’Equipe the player wouldn’t be joining them, their president Jean-Michel Aulas explained a deal was still very much possible if the player really wanted it.
TodoMercadoWeb in Spain aren’t having any of this, though, and claim the player is currently in talks with Leganes over a potential contract.
The Spanish website says contact has been made, and the aim is to now get the contract sorted before anyone else comes along.
Frankly, we’re not buying it, and if you’re given the chance of playing for Spanish minnows or the second/third best team in France right now, with potential Champions League football down the line, we all know where you’d go.
Our guess is that Adebayor is no different.
