Of all the players Everton want to sell this summer, Idrissa Gana Gueye is not among them. The Senegal midfielder is a key man for the Blues and vital to how Marco Silva wants to play.
However, his excellent performances at Goodison Park have not gone unnoticed. Paris Saint Germain are known admirers and pushed hard for him back in January.
That move never happened, despite Gueye’s best efforts, but it seems the desire from Paris has not abated.
Earlier this month we covered a report from Le Parisien that stated PSG boss Thomas Tuchel was still keen on Gueye this summer.
That was despite Leonardo, the PSG sporting director, having turned his attention to other targets.
Le10Sport follow up that story today and add some details of their own. They confirm that a midfielder remains a priority for PSG, despite the arrival of Ander Herrera, and that Tuchel still has his heart set on Gueye.
They believe the Senegal midfielder ‘could finally land at PSG this summer’ and that it would take ‘at least’ €30m to convince Everton to sell him.
That price seems a little low given Everton were thought to want at least £40m to sanction a sale back in January and Gueye’s performances have been exemplary since then.
What’s undeniable, though, is that the interest from PSG remains and it will be interesting to see if they back their manager and push for Gueye, or go with the man Leonardo wants instead.
