Gerard Deulofeu has been in fine form for Watford in recent times and has scored eight goals and registered two assists in his past nine matches played in all competitions.

The Spaniard was a transfer target for AC Milan in the winter market, but the Serie A club were unable to take the winger away from Watford, who signed him on a permanent deal from Barcelona last summer.

On April 9th, Deulofeu told Marca “we’ll see what happens” when asked about his future beyond this campaign.

According to Calciomercato, Milan’s interest in the forward ‘remains unchanged’ as he continues to be a ‘concrete option’ for them in the summer.

Leonardo has maintained regular contact with the player’s entourage and Javi Gracia’s side, where they have reaffirmed their desire to open negotiations once their berth in next season’s Champions League is confirmed and the ruling on FFP violations is heard.

It’s claimed the Italian club are ‘convinced’ with their choice and are motivated by Deulofeu’s valuation. However, the only obstacle will be the Hornets’ asking price.

Watford, on their part, are clear the player can leave in the summer if the right offer of €40m arrives at the club, but Milan are working to lower the asking price for Deulofeu.

After having a ‘yes’ from Deulofeu the two clubs should find an agreement for the transfer to take shape in the summer.
