Leicester City striker Islam Slimani is forcing a move back to Sporting next summer, according to the Portuguese press this weekend.

Newspaper O Jogo says the player is one of the Lions’ priority targets for the transfer market, and the club will have his help to sort out a move.

Things haven’t worked out for Slimani at Leicester City, Newcastle United and Fenerbahce, where he’s been loaned until the end of the season. That’s why he thinks he must return to Alvalade to show his potential again.

The Portuguese side know how difficult it will be to afford such a signing, and in case they can’t get a permanent transfer, they will try to pay for only part of his wages.

O Jogo says that Slimani makes over €3m net per season at Leicester City, and Sporting can hardly pay half of that.

But they sound pretty confident that the player’s wish will have some impact on his future. Slimani signed for Leicester City in 2016, and has a contract running until 2021.
