With Sporting now interested in signing Adrien Silva back from Leicester City, it was just a matter of time until they were linked to Islam Slimani as well.
Several reports from the English and Turkish media have been saying the striker could return from his loan spell at Fenerbahce in January, and the Portuguese club became interested in the story.
That’s what A Bola is claiming today, saying that after hearing the rumours, the Lions now want Slimani to be a back-up option for their striker Bas Dost.
The newspaper writes that Slimani would see a return to Lisbon ‘with good eyes’, as he had a pretty good time in his three years at the club.
Surprisingly, Sporting would fancy either a loan or permanent deal, as long as Slimani accepts to negotiate his salary… which means lower it.
That’s unusual for a Portuguese club, as earlier today, the local media made it pretty clear that the Lions wouldn’t have enough money to buy Adrien Silva from the Foxes.
Despite Sporting’s interest in the rumour, A Bola doesn’t seem to know much about ongoing talks or anything else on Slimani’s future.
