Sky Germany: Krueger in general Hasenhüttl agreement, coach to travel to England for Southampton talks

Earlier today we covered claims from Germany’s SportBild that Ralph Hasenhüttl is on the verge of taking over at Southampton.

The Premier League club sacked Mark Hughes on Monday, following the team’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United at the weekend.

It didn’t take long for the claims to come in, and despite Quique Sanchez Flores being odds on favourite when the bookies started taking bets, it looks like Southampton had their eye on someone very different.

On Monday evening, Sky Germany reports Saints’ chairman Ralph Krueger is in general agreement that Hasenhüttl is the man to take Southampton forward and get them away from the relegation zone.

It’s further reported that the former RB Leipzig manager is set to travel to England in the next couple of days for further talks with the club.

Hasenhüttl left RB Leipzig after failing to agree a new contract, following a successful period with the club, so Southampton will have tough negotiations ahead to make sure he’s pleased with the terms.
