In their Monday edition, L’Equipe voiced doubts about Nabil Fekir’s current level and the player’s fitness problems.
It was explained Fekir has been struggling and came off at half time against Saint Etienne, having not made an impact, insisting he’d be fine for the next match.
The French international’s status at the club was making it hard for Bruno Genesio to take the decision out of the player’s hands, and it was clear where the balance of power rests.
Genesio himself spoke after training on Monday, and was asked about the chances of Fekir playing against Manchester City, with L’Equipe quoting him as saying: “We need players at 100%, and we will take stock after the last training. This is our captain, one of the most important players on the team, but it is essential that he’s 100%. We’ll see, based on his feelings, but I’m optimistic.”
The French newspaper go on to say there’ is still some doubt, but the impression is as long as he can get himself on the pitch to a reasonable standard then Fekir will play.
If not, Moussa Dembélé or Maxwel Cornet are likely to get the nod against Manchester City.
