Borussia Dortmund have enjoyed a good start to the season that sees them sitting on top of the Bundesliga table.

Sport Bild reports that Julian Weigl is a ‘victim’ of his side’s impressive form because the midfielder has played just 151 minutes in the league across three appearances this season.

It’s claimed that Arsenal have shown interest in the player, who is clearly unhappy after falling down the pecking order following the arrival of Thomas Delaney and Axel Witsel in the summer.

Sven Mislintat arrived at the Emirates from Dortmund, and that’s led to many links with BVB players.

He’s helped the north London club sign Sokratis Papastathopoulus, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who have played for the German side in the past.

However, the report mentions that Lucien Favre’s side have no intention of allowing Weigl to leave the club in January because they don’t want to weaken the squad by reducing the headcount.

It’s not worth the effort for Arsenal to chase the player, if there’s a genuine commitment to not let him leave midway through the season. It’s a similar situation with Pablo Fornals as Sport reported today that Villarreal will not even negotiate his sale in January.

Aaron Ramsey is set to leave the club in 2019, which is why the Premier League side are in the market in search of a replacement.

Maybe waiting is better.
