Roberto Pereyra has achieved a goal he set himself when unable to take up an international call through injury.
The Watford player is having a good season for his club and that’s led to a chance again with the national team, and whilst the opposition may not have been up to much, which Pereyra referenced directly, it’s a really positive step forward for the 27 year old.
A much changed Argentina side faced Iraq in a friendly and strolled to an unsurprising 4-0 victory.
Watford’s Pereyra scored his country’s second goal and after the match he was keen to explain how it’s something he’d set as a target during a less positive time of his career.
“It was one of the goals I had set when I couldn’t come (to the Argentina team) because I got injured.”
From a Watford perspective it obviously can’t be a bad thing for a Pereyra to continue building his confidence and reaching career goals.
