So far this season, Mohamed Salah has picked up where he left off last season at Liverpool, playing a key role in their great start to the 2018-19 campaign, as the Reds are still undefeated in the Premier League.

Following a rather disappointing World Cup, the Egypt international is eager to repeat last season’s successes in the Champions League, and wants to go further this time, lifting the trophy at the end of the competition.

One of the main reasons why the forward has performed so well under Jürgen Klopp is his relationship with the manager, which he talks about in an interview with France Football this week.

He said: “From my first day with the Reds, he treated me like a friend. We spoke together, and there was straight away something strong between us. The chemistry was there from the start. All I can say, is that he knows how to deal with each player on personal level. Everyone feels good with him”.

As well as the German manager, Salah has forged a great relationship with his attacking teammates, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané, who are now widely seen as the most impressive attacking trio in England.

He continued: “We’re friends, we talk a lot. Normally, we’re sat down, the three of us, in the dressing room together, just after games. There’s a real solidarity between us because we’re not bothered about who scores more or first. Each work in order for the other to score, and as you can see, we’re all scoring…”

Completely at home on Merseyside, the 26-year-old is also enamoured with the Liverpool fans, who have made him feel so welcome ever since his transfer from AS Roma.

He said: “One or two months after my arrival, I had that song that’s so special. As soon as I arrived, I felt that love and fervour. They are quite simply the best…”

Since arriving at Liverpool last summer, Salah has scored 46 goals and assisted his teammates 18 times in 57 appearances.
