Promised to Liverpool by the Polish media about a month ago, Piotr Zielinski still doesn’t seem any closer to be signing for Jürgen Klopp’s side, mostly because of Napoli’s interest.
The Serie A side have prioritised trying to find a new midfielder for Maurizio Sarri, with the Udinese youngster top of the list, but the delays over any agreement with the player have forced them to look elsewhere.
Porto’s Hector Herrera (currently on national team duty with Mexico) and Lyon’s Corentin Tolisso have been named as two alternatives for the Poland international, but it seems Liverpool are the ones with the upper hand.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Polish midfielder has given his approval to the Premier League club’s personal terms, with Liverpool and Udinese yet to find a happy ground on the transfer fee.
On Napoli’s side of things, it’s the other way around: Napoli have reached some sort of transfer fee arrangement with their fellow Serie A side, while Zielinski’s agreement with Liverpool is causing De Laurentiis all kinds of frustrations.
As the player is currently on international duty with Poland for the 2016 Euros, we might have to wait a while longer for this transfer to be resolved, especially seeing as things appear to be at a stalemate.
