Brighton & Hove Albion are closing in on the signing of Bernardo, reports German newspaper Bild.
The transfer has been rumoured previously, but the way Bild present it sounds like there’s a good chance of this one happening soon.
RB Leipzig player Bernnardo ‘stands before’ a switch to the Premier League club, and the Bundesliga would already be looking at potential replacements.
Leipzig are set to make a profit on any sale, with Bild explaining the club paid €6m to Red Bull Salzburg in 2016. Now the expected fee for Bernardo to move to Brighton is said to be nearly €10m.
Bernardo Fernandes da Silva Junior is a 23 year old Brazilian who is primarily a fullback. He’s left footed and can also play at right back or in midfield.
He has a contract with RB Leipzig lasting until June 2021, but Bild don’t think he’s going to be around for the start of the season. He played 18 Bundesliga games during the last campaign, and a further 6 matches in Europe.
