Former Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt is on the verge of returning to Leeds United after passing his medical yesterday. The 27-year-old spent last season on loan with the Championship side, and was surplus to requirements at Sunderland.

The Yorkshire Evening Post have reported this morning Bridcutt is close to sealing a permanent deal with Leeds United, and is expected to sign a two-year deal today with the club. Garry Monk is keen to add experience to his midfield, and the former Sunderland player is seen as the ideal candidate.

Bridcutt will become the ninth signing made by Leeds United this summer, and his signing could be announced before tonight’s clash with Fulham.

Last week Sunderland agreed to terminate Bridcutt’s contract by mutual consent, which paved the way for his move to Leeds United.

Despite being a free agent, Leeds United need to come to agreement with the player with regards to his personal terms, but it now seems this has been addressed.
