Carpi aren’t giving up all hope of selling Jerry Mbakogu to Leeds United this summer and Gazzetta di Modena explain the Serie B club continue to work on a deal for the player.
The club’s ‘priority remains’ selling Mbakogu to Leeds United so they can get on with their own signings. Far from the deal being dead, it’s reported the negotiation continues.
Given Leeds United don’t seem likely to use their €3.5m option to sign the player anyway, wanting a discount from Carpi, there’s no time limit to conclude a deal, so this one may drag on for a while yet.
At such levels, the Mbakogu deal doesn’t look as bad as most Leeds United fans have convinced themselves it is, and the club must think, if the claims are correct, that around €2m isn’t a bad deal.
