Manchester United were among a few Premier League sides that looked at signing Miguel Gutiérrez in the past.
The Red Devils were chasing the left-back during José Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford and the manager also tried brining the 21-year-old to Tottenham Hotspur during his spell in London.
Reports coming out of Spain in 2021 continued to name Manchester United as one of the contenders for the defender.
Gutiérrez came up through the ranks of Real Madrid’s academy and made his senior debut last April. After making three league appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side last term, they allowed him join Girona in the summer.
Marca have interviewed the Spain U21 international and when quizzed about the club that he was closest to signing for, he said: “Manchester United took an interest in me as a cadet [academy player].”
Operating as both left-back and left wing-back at Girona this campaign, Gutiérrez has managed two assists from six league games. Should he continue to shine, top clubs could come to sign him in the future.
