Over the past month or so, there have been on and off sightings of articles in Mexico about the possibility of Hirving Lozano, currently at Pachuca, signing for Manchester United.
These were fairly sporadic, until last week when they have started becoming more and more frequent, with ESTO in Mexico getting a chance to speak to him about the proposed move.
The player’s father-in-law recently stated his son would be signing for Manchester United, and this time, it’s the 20-year-old who addressed the move directly.
Described as ‘smiling from ear to ear’ at the mention of his move to the Premier League club, he said: “It’s good that teams like those are looking at me and I think I need to keep doing things well, so that teams come watch me do it at international level.”
Currently with the Mexico U23 squad preparing for the Rio Olympics, the youngster said he first had to focus on this to gel with the team well to then perform at the tournament.
Overall, though, he’s over the move at the prospect of moving to United: “Of course the thought of playing for Manchester United excites me, and I need to give it my all (for it to become reality)”.
He also had lovely things to say about José Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic: “He’s a great manager and the other is one of the best strikers in the world, but first I need to talk with Pachuca and then we’ll see.”
It seems Lozano himself is less adamant of a move than his father is, but there’s clearly something there from Manchester United for the young winger.
As for ESTO referring to Manchester United as a London club, we’re sure many fans will forgive them if the move happens and he ends up being a success.
