Last summer, Burnley let Zeki Amdouni join Benfica on a season-long loan deal with an €18m buying option.
The Switzerland international has played less than 1,110 minutes from 38 games, scoring eight goals and registering three assists in the process.
Recent claims in the Swiss media have stated the Eagles have activated the €18m option to buy the Burnley owned player.
Saturday’s edition of Record have dismissed it and insist Benfica haven’t yet decided on retaining the 24-year-old.
There’s a possibility for him to extend his stay, but the newspaper states there is currently ‘no certainty’ whether he will continue at Benfica next season.
Benfica president Rui Costa will have the ‘final word’ on the Burnley man. Record say if he and his side were to make a decision, it’ll only be made at the end of this season.
A Bola have also dismissed claims from Switzerland about Benfica exercising the €18m clause to buy Amdouni. The Lisbon club have until May to make a decision, but at this moment in time, they haven’t made one.
Amdouni’s contract with the Clarets lasts until 2028.
