Atlético Madrid’s João Félix could return to Chelsea this summer.
The forward spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Chelsea, but they didn’t make his stay permanent after Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival in the summer of 2023.
The Argentine has been replaced by Enzo Maresca and the Blues could consider making an approach for the 24-year-old in this window.
That’s according to Cadena Ser, who say the Premier League have decided to bet on Félix, after ruling out a move for Samu Omorodion.
Last week saw multiple claims from Spain stating that Chelsea have agreed a deal with the Madrid club involving Conor Gallagher and the 20-year-old striker.
Gallagher is in Madrid, while Omorodion travelled to London at the weekend, to seal a move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have changed their mind on the Spain U23 international and are now showing ‘strong interest’ in the former Benfica man.
The Portugal international has attracted interest from other clubs, but Chelsea are now ‘best positioned’ to sign him. He’s closer to the English club than Omorodion.
AS also claim Omorodion’s transfer broke down and Maresca’s side are showing ‘strong interest’ in Félix. The striker has been asked to return to Madrid, where Gallagher has been waiting to secure a move to Atlético.
The two clubs don’t want the midfielder’s deal to collapse, but it could happen if Félix’s move to Stamford Bridge doesn’t take shape. Chelsea and Los Rojiblancos are in talks for the Portuguese attacker, who can unblock Gallagher’s operation.
AS say Félix’s agent Jorge Mendes travelled to London for negotiations with Chelsea, and they have shown their willingness to buy his client.
There should be more developments in the next few hours.
